HIS EMINENCE GARCHEN RINPOCHE was born in East Tibet in 1937.

He is a lifelong practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. During China’s Cultural Revolution in 1959, he was imprisoned for 20 years. While imprisoned, he secretly cultivated meditation practices that transformed his difficulties and hardship into love and compassion, realizing his "wisdom" mind. Upon his release in the 1980’s, he supported the rebuilding and building of monasteries, gave birth to global centers which are continuing to flourish, and teaches in over 30 countries worldwide.

He has lived a life of unwavering dedication for the benefit of all beings, even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges. Through his life experiences and teachings, he models how love is the cause of happiness, and that every action and perception can be transformed into love.

GLOBAL EDUCATION

Contributions from Radical Compassion will go to Educate Tibet, a project dedicated to the preservation of native and local language and culture. The leaders of tomorrow are created by those who gift forward what they have been fortunate to receive. On Martin Luther King Day 2018,Educate Tibet launched its first year, initiating a program for 500 children in one Tibetan village to learn to read and write in their native and local languages. In 2019, with you, we doubled our impact, educating 1000 children. To learn about our current project or to contribute to the education of children in Tibet, join us!
